April Fools: Sprout's 8th Anniversary: Howdy, Stranger

UPDATE (4/2/2025): For my April Fools day prank yesterday, I decided to tell you about Sprout anniversary stunts that never existed for what would've been the network's 20th this year, inspired by ToughPigs' prank in 2019, where they reviewed forgotten Sesame Street anniversary specials for the show's 50th that year.

Sprout celebrated its eighth anniversary on the night of September 26, 2013 with a special season 5 episode of The Good Night Show entitled, "Happy Birthday, Sprout," in which Nina and Star celebrate in the You and Me Tree with their Sprout friends, just like in Cheer in the New Year, except this time, it was characters from shows that weren't produced in-house. There was also a (quasi-)celebrity guest star, newscaster Elissa Derbyshire. Unfortunately, Elissa hadn't heard of Sprout before, so throughout the show, she...

* She calls Sprout some "TV thingy"
* When Lucy introduces the first show, she refers to it as "those four Australian blokes," which would've been fine if it were The Wiggles, but it was The Berenstain Bears who were actually up next.
* Thinks the You and Me Tree looks realistic.
* Thinks Nina and Star are singing "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" out of tune, when Nina points out that there's no other way to sing it
* When Star mentions Stella and Sam coming to Sprout, Elissa thinks they're sloths
* Asks Nina and Star how friends are made

I'm glad Sprout learnt there lesson and from then on, only hired celebrities that were familiar with them.
