Dream about The Lorax

On what would've been Dr. Seuss' 121st birthday, let me tell you about a dream I had somewhere between 2013 and 2015 about one of his most famous books. In "The Lorax," which was published in 1971 and received two adaptations (TV cartoon in 1972, theatrical film in 2012 (I grew up with that film and have had a dream about it fairly recently), The Once-ler cuts down all of the Truffula Trees, not listening to the titular character, and before he knows it, the animals are, to quote Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka (that film came out the same year), "disappearing like rabbits" - the Brown Bar-ba-loots have to look for new food after there's no more Truffula fruit since the Once-ler and his family are cutting down more and more trees, the Swomee Swans have to look for a new sky since he's made such Smoggulous Smoke, and the Humming Fish have to look for clean water since he glupped their pond with Gluppity Glup and Schloppity Schlop. One night 10 or so years ago, I had a dream where there were pages that wasn't in the book in real life - one had The Lorax using a computer, the other had the Swomee Swans with paper wrapped around their heads underneath a machine with coughing Humming Fish coming out (in the actual book, the Swomees take their leave before the Humming Fish). I've never forgot that dream and have put it in my Dream journal on the Notes app of my iPhone. More art coming soon!
