This story took place almost 9 years ago.
As you probably know, toy crazes have come and gone, such as Baby Real, Lettuce Patch Kids, Furbird, Cumin Street's Tickle Me Elmer, and Storekins. These toys were so popular, kids begging their parents for them, and were all sold out almost immediately. There's another craze, too, and one that everyone in the Hills of Sprout will never forget.
As Christmas season rolled around, commercials for Li'l Hatchers, a toy of different animals, like dogs, bunnies, or pandas, who would hatch from eggs and afterwards come with baby doll accessories, played on almost every TV station during commercial breaks, and after seeing these commercials, everyone rushed to the stores to buy Li'l Hatchers of their own, and, soon enough, they were out of stock!
Everyone, that is, except for Alex, until his friends told him about Li'l Hatchers from owning some themselves. Being the calmest of the Hills residents, he thought it was a sweet idea, so that's what he asked Santa for for Christmas. When Christmas Day finally arrived, he opened a present to find ... his very own Li'l Hatcher!
Alex spent hours waiting for his new critter friend to hatch, and imagine his delight when he saw it start to hatch and bunny eyes and ears came out. After a while, it was finally fully out of the egg. It was a purple bunny, and Alex named it Maple. Soon enough, he would start treating Maple like a real baby, giving it its bottle and pacifier and rocking it - that's what Li'l Hatchers are for!
While he's great friends with his real friends, Alex has a special bond with Maple that can't be broken, just like other Li'l Hatcher owners.
