Star Saves Christmas - If My Friend Was Here

At Patty Pig's house, she's in her bedroom writing a letter to her best friend, Easton the Caterpillar, who is still in Butler at his grandparents' house.

PATTY: "Dear Easton, I miss you, your best friend, Easton." well that’s another letter to my buddy, Easton. He's still cities away in Butler, spending Christmas day with his whole family at his grandparents' house. They’ve been there for six months now and every day I write the same letter because that’s how I feel. But the only problem is, it’s Christmas, and on Christmas Day, they don’t pick up the mail. Now I’m starting to feel like I’ll never see him again! I’ve written enough letters to Easton. Now I wanna call him. It would be nice to hear his voice again.

Patty goes to her mother, Sharon's bedroom, goes to the phone and dials the number to call Easton's grandparents' house and the phone rings.

JERRY: Hello, there, but, I'm afraid we're too busy to call. You see, Debbie just made all our grandchildren cozy new Christmas pajamas and now we're watching The Nativity Story.
PATTY: Oh, rats, it's his grandpa! Tell Easton I said hi, okay?

She hangs up, then goes back to her room to sing about how much she wants her very best friend to spend the holidays with her, but unbeknownst to her, Easton is feeling the same feelings and singing the same song.

PATTY: There are songs to sing and a big and cozy fire
EASTON: There are treats to eat and decorations to admire
PATTY and EASTON: All the things that usually make me smile at my favorite time of year
But it would feel a whole lot better if my friend was here
If my friend was here, with his/her hand in mine
We'd hug, and it'd all be fine
We'd share a joke, and then, laugh and play
And it wouldn't feel like only half the holiday
PATTY: But, I won't give up, and sit here, feeling blue
EASTON: And I'd do my best, just like my friend would want me to
PATTY and EASTON: Don't be sad, just say, 'cause I'm on my way
And the gray skies soon will clear, but
EASTON: It would feel a whole lot better if
PATTY: I would feel a whole lot better if
PATTY and EASTON: It would feel a whole lot better if my friend was here

PATTY: Six months and you’re still in Butler?! Well, goodbye, Easton. Oh, I WISH IT WOULD STOP BEING CHRISTMAS EVERY DAY SO I CAN SEE EASTON AGAIN!

Star is watching from outside and feels bad for the porcine leader of the Sprout House Band.

STAR: Oh, how sad.
MOLLY: Gee, I don’t think she’s having so much fun!
STAR: But, she has lots of toys - she’ll have a lot of fun! And, speaking of which, I’ll bet a lot of people will be really happy on the real Christmas Day!
MOLLY: Hang on tight, Star, let's get going!

Molly sprinkles flying dust on both her and Star and they fly up into the sky around the spinning earth and they land down to the Hills on Sprout on December 25, 2026 - the 365th Christmas day - landing softly.

STAR: Wow, that's a soft landing!
MOLLY: Yes, I really did it this time.
STAR: It looks kind of deserted. Where is everyone?
MOLLY: Well, why don’t you walk around and find them?
STAR: Okay.

Star starts walking around the hills again.
