Big Brother Easton

This story took place the day after the previous story, "Big News for Easton." (https://www.artstation.com/artwork/AZBl0o)

Easton was staying with his best friend, Patty, while his parents were in the hospital, his mom having his new baby brother or sister. Sharon got a phone call from his dad and handed the phone to Easton.

EASTON: Hello, Easton the Caterpillar, pig residence, how may I help you?
DEAN: Hi, Easton, this is daddy. Listen, the baby's almost here and it's going to be a while until he or she arrives.
EASTON: Ooh, that's exciting! My new baby brother or sister is almost here! I'm gonna be a big brother!
PATTY: Very exciting.
DEAN: Listen, how about you come over to the hospital to meet him or her for the first time?
EASTON: Oh, that's gonna be a great idea!
DEAN: Yeah, he or she is gonna love you, you're gonna be a great big brother! Well, bye!
EASTON: Bye!

After Sharon hung up and put the phone back, she was curious as to what Easton and his dad were talking about.

SHARON: So, what's the scoop?
EASTON: I'm gonna come to the hospital to see my new baby brother or sister! Whatever it is!
PATTY: Can I come, too?
EASTON: Sure, everyone's invited! And Quacky Alex is coming, too!

At the hospital, Easton, Patty, and Sharon were led by the receptionist to the room the former's mom was staying in. After a few moments of waiting, a nurse came in with a light purple baby caterpillar with dark purple checkers in a swaddle and handed it to mom.

NURSE: It's a boy!
PATTY: Aww, the baby's here!
EASTON: Yeah! I'm so excited!

Just then, the human friends arrived, eager to see the new baby.

MILES: Did I hear that correctly, a new baby?
LEO: That's great news!
BRITTA: Yeah, and, matter of fact, he was just delivered to us.
DEAN: Okay, continuing my list of baby names, how about Shaggy or Fred, or if it was a girl, I would've named it Daphne or Velma.
BRITTA: We can't think about Velma without thinking about that abysmal HBO Max show.
DEAN: Okay.

The parents then turned to Easton, asking him if he wanted to give the baby attention.

BRITTA: Hey, Easton, you wanna hold the baby?
EASTON: Of course! I'm his brother, after all.

Dad scooped the baby from mom's arms and handed it to Easton.

DEAN: Remember, hold it nice and gentle-like.
EASTON: Okay.
PATTY: You haven't given the new baby a name yet.
KELLY: Yeah, what do you want to name it?
EASTON: I think...I think...I think...
DEAN: Tink! That's a perfect name!
EASTON: Tink?
BRITTA: Yeah, I think that'll do!
EASTON: Okay, Tink it is! Guess I named the new baby, then.
KELLY: That's a cute name.

Tink opened his eyes for the very first time.

EASTON: Look, he's opening his eyes now!

Everyone admired the baby, even now since he had a final name and opened his eyes.

ALL: Awwwww.
NINA: Aww, welcome to the Hills of Sprout, Tink, and to the world.
MILES: He's just adorable.
EASTON: Thanks, Miles.

Tink then shut his eyes.

NINA: Look, he closed his eyes!
DEAN: Yeah, amazing what a baby can do!
BRITTA: And he hasn't even cried yet!
NINA: Well, good for him, I suppose.
EASTON: Don't worry, Tink, I'll always be by your side, no matter what.

The new big brother then started a song.

I'll be your brother, I'll be your guide
Through thick or through thin, I'll be by your side
I'll be with you, all the day and night
And when you have a nightmare, I'll be there to hold you tight
It's true that in the future, we'll be far apart
But just keep this in mind, that we're together in our hearts
I'll be your brother, I'll be your guide
I'll show you the world all of the time
I'll be your brother, 'cause that's what I am, it's true
And just remember
That I love you

LEO: That was a nice song, Easton.
EASTON: Aww, thanks. I'm ready to give him back now.
DEAN: Okay.

Dad handed baby Tink back to Mom. Everyone was happy now that the new baby was here and ready for the world.

When the caterpillar family went home from the hospital later that day, Easton got the chance to introduce his new baby brother to Chica and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C, at the Costume Coop, and Banjo and Noodle at the Freedom Crusaders' clubhouse, and they all thought he was cute and adorable, just like any other baby.

Being a big sibling for the first time can be quite an adventure - ask Easton!
