This story took place 3 months ago.
Acia, Curtis' 5-year-old sister, has a speech delay and there are always pauses in between words when she speaks in sentences (for example "I. Want. Uhh, a. Cookie." (I want a cookie)), so her parents and four brothers have been turning on shows with actual conversations to get her to talk more, such as Little Einsteins, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Blue's Clues, and of course, Dora the Explorer. After she first watched the Hispanic cartoon girl, she was hooked, so her parents instantly got her Dora books and toys. It's like Dora exploded at the owl family house!
It's common for kids to try to replicate their favorite shows (one time, when the gang was building Nicholas a swing-and-slide set for his backyard, he called for Toodles from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse for Mouseketools, while Star's World is based off of, you guessed it, Elmo's World from Sesame Street), and it's clear that Acia wanted to be like Dora so bad, so one day, she tried to reenact an episode she saw entitled, "Catch the Babies." It started when she was in her nightgown, woke up in her bed, got out and put on her slippers and backpack, and headed outside of the house to search for a plushie (which I forgot to include - oops), which she "found" inside The Sprout Sharing Show Theater, where her older brother, Curtis, and his bandmates, Patty and Ricky, were practicing for a musical number. That's when Nina and Star (the Goodnight Garden and You and Me Tree are nearby) noticed her and asked her what she was trying to do. Remembering the Dora episode, Curtis told them he thought she was reenacting it, with Acia's favorite plushie plushie in the role of Dora's twin baby brother and sister.
The others told Acia a lesson not to sneak out of the house without adult supervision unless it's an emergency. I hope she remembers that.
