Announcer (speaking): And now it's time for Friendship Songs with Coo and Curtis, the part of the show where Coo and Curtis come out and sing a friendship song. Today, these two birds of a feather are in the storytime room of the library, and they have a question to ask Star.
Coo (speaking): Can a cuckoo bird and an owl be friends?
Star (speaking): Hmm. That's a good question.
Coo and Curtis: We're wondering why
We wanna know
Why we like each other so
Why, oh why, are we such good friends?
Coo: You play at the theater.
Curtis: You live in this room.
Coo: You're such a cool cat!
Curtis: Your singing voice goes boom
Coo and Curtis: Why, oh why, are we such good friends?
Coo (speaking): You know, we like totally different things.
Curtis (speaking): For example?
Coo: I like a-hoppin' and a-boppin' with the ball in the yard
And a groovy jigsaw puzzle if it's not too hard
Curtis: I like a-shakin' and a-bakin' and playin' my bass
And showing my talents with a smile on my face
Coo: I like postage stamps, summer camps, racin' cars on racin' ramps
Musical chairs and your savoir faire
Curtis: Groceries and toast with cheese
A juice pop, please
Coo and Curtis: With as many different likes as these
Why, oh why, are we such good friends?
Coo (speaking): You know, Curt, it really seems like there's only differences between us!
Curtis (speaking): Ah, it really does seem that way.
Coo (speaking): But it's your differences that make you such a good friend! I mean, that's what I like the best!
Curtis (speaking): Really?
Coo (speaking): Yeah, it's true!
Curtis (speaking): I feel that way, too!
Coo (speaking): I've always admired your blue stripes so true,
Curtis (speaking): While you're turquoise, that's just like blue
Coo and Curtis: Maybe that's why we're such good friends!
Curtis: I love your feathers
Coo: You're beak's the word
We've only one thing in common
Coo and Curtis: We're both birds!
Why, oh why, are we such good friends?
Curtis (speaking): Coo, maybe I'm your friend because I like the different things you do.
Coo (speaking): Is that true?
Curtis: Yes, it's what makes you you!
I like how you hop and you bop with the ball in the yard
I like your groovy jigsaw puzzles, when they're not too hard
Coo: While I like the way you play your bass
And show off your talents with a smile on your face
Curtis: I like your postage stamps, summer camps, racing cars on racing ramps
Musical chairs and your savoir faire!
Coo: Groceries and toast with cheese
A juice pop, please
Coo and Curtis: With as many different likes as these
Why, oh why, oh why, oh why?
If you're wondering why, if you wanna know
Why we love each other so
Curtis: Look at the evidence
Coo: It makes such perfect sense
Coo and Curtis: We love our differences
That's...why...we're such good friends
Curtis (speaking): I get it! We're friends because we like what makes each other different!
Coo (speaking): Yeah! You know, I really like what makes you you.
Curtis (speaking): And I like what makes you you, too!
Star (speaking): Wow! Even though they're so different, they can still be friends because they like what makes each other different.
Announcer (speaking): This has been Friendship Songs with Coo and Curtis. Tune in next time to hear Star say...
Star (offscreen): There are so many reasons Chica and I are such good friends! Want me to name them?
